about the art

Design and Craft

Rana enjoys the making process as much as the design process. To bring her designs to life as accurately as possible, she often combines traditional goldsmithing techniques with CAD design.

  • Persian Art & Architecture

Rana draws inspiration primarily from Persian art and architecture, and specifically tribal carpets, and her designs reflect the geometric and primitive forms characteristic of these textiles.

  • Exploring Contrast

She enjoys creating contrast and depth in her work, often experimenting with how light interacts with different surfaces. Gemstones play a central role in her creations, bringing vibrant color and a touch of elegance.

  • Jewelry Design Competition

In 2019, Rana Mireskandari was honoured as one of three Canadian finalists for the 'Shining Light Awards' jewelry design competition by De Beers, leading to an unforgettable trip to Botswana.
